Initial studies

KSA Eye Centre’s obsession is safety!

In KSA Eye Centre we strive for the best possible treatment for vision problems, using scientifically proven technology and following ethically strict medical practice.

We stand in the forefront of modern technology and new surgical techniques, because constant research and development offer ever more desirable results in treating eye problems and in patient care. At the moment KSA Eye Centre uses the fourth-generation technology for laser operations, which is the best available on the market.

The initial examination

The aim of the initial examination is to determine, whether you are a suitable candidate for the operation and if we can improve your vision in a way that it meets your expectations and needs. Usually it takes 1,5 hours for the initial medical examination to be completed.

What happens?

You will learn during the initial examination, what is the best possible option for treating your eye sight. The examination comprises series of tests and measurements. You can also discuss problems with the optometrist and all your questions will be answered.

During the examination

  • we measure the strength of your current glasses or lenses, Rx (lensometric reading),
  • we measure the size of your pupil in the dark (infrared pupillometrics),
  • we measure the wave aberrations (tiny imprecisions in your vision system, WASCA),
  • we measure the frontal and posterior curve of cornea with a 3 dimensional system (corneal topography)
  • we measure the thickness of your cornea (Orbscan),
  • we check your actual refractive error,
  • we study your eye thoroughly under the microscope to find relevant eye diseases.

During the consultation

  • we discuss what are the most suitable treatments to achieve your goals and expectations,
  • we investigate whether you have any questions about the information package; if so, we answer them and re-explain everything once again in detail.
  • we make sure that you have understood all preoperative instructions (ex. Don’t use make-up, perfumes nor alcohol).

If you are eligible for the operation, you will be asked to make an appointment for the treatment. We are sure that all the testing we do are the most thorough you’ve experienced before. If you are wearing contact lenses, we kindly ask you not to wear any 10 days before the consultation and come to the visit with glasses.

Everyone gets their own procedure

Most refractive errors are easily treated with eye laser procedures, but choosing the course of treatment depends on many individual factors. These include the level of error in depth (measured in diopter), age and vision requirements. Since everyone’s eyes and demands are unique, KSA Eye Centre offers patients extensive testing, which include examination of the eyes and a consult, to appoint the patient the right treatment. The following table shows general compatibility for different treatments to cure common eye problems.
