Technology in KSA Eye Centre

We have made decision making for the patients of KSA Eye Centre as simple as possible, because we use the most modern technology available for treating and research alike. KSA uses Zeiss excimer laser MEL 80. It’s worth noting that Carl Zeiss Meditec AG is unquestionably the leading quality brand in the world in the field of optics and laser technology.

After 5th of November we changed the medical examination prior to the laser procedure even more accurate and safer with the Pentacam HR (OCULUS Optikgeräte GmbH) camera.

A device named microkeratome which is used for LASIK-procedures, must be extremely safe and precise. Therefore KSA Eye Centre has been using a new microkeratome Carriazo-Pendular (Schwind Eye-Tech Solutions GmbH) since the 10th of October 2007. The surgeon uses microkeratome during LASIK-procedure to cut a small patch out of the cornea. Carriazo-Pendular’s microkeratome offers precision second to none, which basically excludes any unsuccessful scission. The cut is even, and thickness of the patch is exactly as predetermined, standard deviation is very low (depending on the size of the cutting head 10–12 µm) and the edges of the cut are extremely smooth. The processor monitors constantly the work of the appliance and makes the different phases of the scission more controllable. The device is also more comfortable for the surgeon to use.

Since 1st of December we temporarily plug the lower tear ducts to improve the well-being of our patients after having Matrix-LASIK or Epi-K procedure. These microscopic plugs in the tear duct dissolve within 3 months. Our experience and the feedback from our patients show that people with plugged tear ducts sense a greater comfort after the procedure and they also need less moisturizing eye drops.

An Australian company Norwood Eyecare is the manufacturer of the epikeratome we use during the Epi-K procedures. The Centurion SES shifts of the eye’s epithelium very gently. The Centurion SES also owns a certificate from the FDA (USA’s Food and Drug Administration).

The optometrists in KSA use daily eye examining appliances from Swiss companies Haag-Streit and Ziemer Ophthalmics. Good devices help us to provide the patient with fast, more comfortable and accurate care. Patients can be assured that all the appliances used in our centre are meant for one-time use only and which guarantees maximal safety.

In KSA Eye Centre all technological questions are solved by following the so called “open loop” principal, which means that most of the key technology is given to KSA Eye Centre by the manufacturers for terminal use. Manufacturers are in charge of the technological service, software and renewing of the optics every 30 days. Having these contracts guarantee our clients the access to the most modern technology and our staff can concentrate on the main target – eye examinations and performing refractive surgeries.

KSA Eye Centre does some 150 corrective laser operations in a month. We wish to share this wonderful experience that thousands of clients have offered us. We are pleased that you’ve chosen KSA Eye Centre.
